• Easy Sausage Rolls Recipe | Andrea Buckett

Sausage rolls are a quintessential British snack, perfect for picnics, parties, or simply enjoying at home with a cup of tea. This simple recipe by Andrea Buckett offers a delightful twist on the classic, ensuring that even novice cooks can whip up a batch in no time.

    Ingredients:

    • 500g sausage meat (or your favourite sausage, skinned)
    • 375g puff pastry, thawed
    • 1 egg, beaten (for glazing)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Optional: a dash of Worcestershire sauce or caramelised onions for added flavour

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C for fan ovens) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
    2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it is about 3mm thick. Cut the pastry into long rectangles, approximately 10cm in width.
    3. In a bowl, season the sausage meat with salt, pepper, and any additional flavourings you fancy. Mix well.
    4. Place a generous amount of the sausage mixture along one edge of each pastry rectangle. Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges with a little water to ensure they stay intact.
    5. Arrange the rolls seam-side down on the prepared tray. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a lovely golden finish.
    6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy the satisfying crunch of the pastry paired with the savoury sausage filling. These easy sausage rolls are bound to be a hit with family and friends!
