Apple Cherry Fritters Recipe
These delightful apple cherry fritters are the perfect treat for any occasion, combining the sweet and tangy flavours of fresh apples and cherries encased in a golden, crispy batter.
Ingredients:
- 2 medium apples, peeled, core removed, and diced
- 150g fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- 200g plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 150ml milk
- 50g sugar
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Icing sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the milk and sugar until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apples and halved cherries gently to incorporate without overmixing.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, use a spoon to drop generous portions of the batter into the oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with icing sugar before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
Enjoy these scrumptious fritters warm, perhaps alongside a dollop of cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect for an afternoon tea or a comforting dessert!
