Air Fryer Turkey Recipe
Creating a succulent turkey just got a whole lot easier with the help of an air fryer. This modern kitchen gadget not only reduces cooking time but also ensures a beautifully crispy skin while keeping the meat tender and juicy.
Ingredients:
- 1 small turkey (around 3-4 kg)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme and rosemary)
Instructions:
-
Begin by patting the turkey dry with kitchen paper, which will help achieve a nice crisp finish.
-
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and chopped fresh herbs to create a seasoning rub.
-
Gently lift the skin from the turkey breast and spread some of the rub underneath for extra flavour, then coat the entire turkey with the remaining mixture.
-
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to roast the turkey in batches or use a smaller bird.
-
Place the turkey in the air fryer basket and cook for approximately 90 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) at the thickest part of the thigh. Remember to turn the turkey halfway through cooking for even browning.
- Once cooked, allow the turkey to rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. This resting period helps the juices redistribute, resulting in a moist and flavourful turkey.
Serve your air-fried turkey with all the traditional accompaniments, and enjoy a hassle-free festive feast that will delight your guests!
