Indulge in the delightful combination of chocolate and banana with this easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread recipe. Perfect for using up overripe bananas, this moist and flavoursome loaf is ideal for breakfast or a sweet afternoon treat.
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 125g unsalted butter, melted
- 150g caster sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 190g plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- A pinch of salt
- 100g dark chocolate chips
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F). Grease a 2lb loaf tin and line it with baking parchment.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with the mashed bananas, stirring until well mixed.
- Add in the caster sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, and salt, then gently fold into the banana mixture.
- Finally, fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring an even distribution throughout the batter.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
