Apple Turnovers Made Easy in the Air Fryer
If you’re in the mood for a delightful treat that's both quick and satisfying, look no further than these air-fried apple turnovers. They’re beautifully golden and flaky, packed with sweet, spiced apples, and incredibly easy to make with just a few ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 50g sugar (adjust according to taste)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- A sprinkle of icing sugar (for serving)
Method:
-
Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Allow this mixture to sit for about 10 minutes, letting the flavours meld together.
-
Roll Out the Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry until it’s about 3mm thick. Cut it into squares, approximately 10cm by 10cm.
-
Assemble the Turnovers: Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the centre of each pastry square. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and press the edges together to seal, crimping with a fork for a decorative finish.
-
Air Frying: Preheat your air fryer to 180°C. Brush each turnover with a beaten egg to give them that lovely golden sheen. Arrange the turnovers in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches) and cook for about 12-15 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, allow them to cool slightly before dusting with icing sugar. These air-fried apple turnovers are perfect served warm, perhaps with a dollop of cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
With minimal fuss and maximum flavour, these apple turnovers are sure to impress, bringing a taste of homemade goodness into your kitchen in no time at all!
